Meet the delegates: Emanuela

It’s my pleasure today to introduce Emanula, who’s one of our growing Italian contingent at the UK Meet 🙂

For anyone who wants to contribute their own answers here on the blog, check out the contact details at the beginning of yesterday’s post!

Emanuela1) Tell us about yourself in 100 words or fewer.
Emanuela, Italian, 40 in a few months, single, accountant. Just been appointed as Italian Language coordinator for Dreamspinner translations.Love: cats. Hate: chickens and flying animals. Never been drunk or stoned, can’t blame anything for the stupid things I do. Give me: shoes and books. I read 90% in English, but I don’t speak it. Aloud, I mean.

2) Tell us something about you that might come as a surprise!
My online persona is bubbly and crazy, but I’m shy to the point of being paralyzed. Also, I’m very insecure about my physical appearance, I’d walk around with a bag around my head… My nickname on goodreads (Plastic Duck) is the safeword of one of Manna Francis’ characters in The Administration series. I’d love to have a safeword to stop things from happening when they’re getting too difficult to handle.

3) What do you like most about the LGBTQ genre?
Different relationship dynamics that good writers can turn into a non-stereotyped story. I don’t recognize myself in the heroines of het-romance. I don’t want to be saved by a guy. Also, why does it have to be a guy?

4) What are you most looking forward to about UK Meet?
Meeting online friends and authors whose books I loved. Going home with physical books because I usually e-read.

5) If you had one wish which would come true at UK Meet, what would that be?
J.L. Merrow brings Al Fletcher.

  1. Wouldn’t it be lovely if Jamie brought Al with her? *Sighs* Actually, I’d love her to bring Jude from Slam too. I’ve never read the Manna Francis books, but I’ve heard they’re excellent. So many great books, so little time to read…

Really looking forward to meeting you in July, Emanuela!

    • Thank you! I haven’t read Slam yet, but I’m planning to, together with a few books by other attending authors. I wish we were in July already! 🙂

    • Thank you, Charlie! I know some of the other Italian attendees from Goodreads, but others are unknown to me. How is that possible?! I thought I knew every fellow Italian 🙂 We’ll find each other, I think, we’ll be the ones unable to queue 😉
