Today is the turn of another UK Meet first-timer, Hanne, who’s our first visitor from Norway! Really looking forward to meeting you in July, Hanne.
I’m a voracious reader, and have been for nearly 45 years. I stumbled across m/m fiction last summer, and after my first book I was hooked. I’m single with no children but I have 5 fantastic nephews and nieces. They keep me young and playful. During the day I have for the past 10 months worked as an IT/HR consultant specialising in HR IT systems. I worked in the Norwegian oil industry in HR and HR IT for 27 years until September 2012. I have a wicked/dark sense of humour (or so they say)!
2) Tell us something about you that might come as a surprise!
I read mainly English language books, although my first language is Norwegian.
It’s important for me as a straight independent woman living in a country where we have legal equality whether you’re straight or gay to support those who are not so fortunate elsewhere.
On a lighter note: When requested I create “fancy” cakes for my family, friends and colleagues for special occasions, for example Lightning McQueen for my youngest nephew’s 5th birthday last year, or my parents’ Golden wedding anniversary.
3) What do you like most about the LGBTQ genre?
I like the diversity of issues being covered. I love getting new perspectives of social and legal issues, power distribution, sexual/personal identity and family structures, as well as some cracking good thrillers, and of course the “occasional” scorching hot sex scene *wink*.
4) What are you most looking forward to about UK Meet?
To meet and get to know other readers, some of my favourite authors and bloggers, and to listen to some interesting talks/discussions, and of course generally having a good time in good company, chatting about our favourite books, authors, characters or plots, or whatever other topics we come up with.
5) If you had one wish which would come true at UK Meet, what would that be?
My wish would be to gain a new friend or two.
All UK Meet 2013 delegates are cordially invited to send in their answers to the above questions, along with links to any social networks/blogs/websites they want to include, and a completely optional mugshot/avatar. If you’d like to take part, send them to email@example.com. Thanks!
