Meet the delegates: Stevie Carroll

Introducing today a woman who should need no introduction, as Stevie Carroll is a veteran of every UK Meet so far, and a passionate advocate for the “other letters”. You might remember her for being the talkative soul with the teddy bear backpack. Here’s hoping she brings it again this year!

Ordinary-Adventures-Cover-Web1) Tell us about yourself in 100 words or fewer.

Writer of a diverse cross-section of characters, who refuse to be constrained by age, class, race, gender or sexuality in their ability to have adventures and generally act like a bunch of eccentric Brits (I write non-Brits, but they usually turn out slightly dotty too). Fiercely Yorkist, in spite of having somehow moved steadily south since graduating from Edinburgh: to the point where I now have to either move back Up North or fall in the sea. Ruled over by two cats and multiple equines, only one of which is technically mine (you can spot him by the long ears).

2) Tell us something about you that might come as a surprise!

When very young, my best friend and I used to sit in the dog kennel at Little Moreton Hall and plot what we’d use each room for when we took it over from the National Trust.

3) What do you like most about the LGBTQ genre?

The chance to explore people like me and mine having adventures.

4) What are you most looking forward to about UK Meet?

Catching up with everyone again, including those I’ve only met online, and making yet more friends too.

5) If you had one wish which would come true at UK Meet, what would that be?

More recognition of the letters other than ‘G’ in QUILTBAG fiction.
