I first met Anne Brooke on the way to the very first UK Meet, when I shared a lift up to Ely with her and Chris Smith. I remember feeling incredibly nervous that day, but Anne put me at ease straight away with her wicked sense of humour and general good cheer. This year she’s a Spotlight Author, and I hope lots of you get a chance to chat with her in Manchester!
1) Tell us about yourself in 100 words or fewer.
Redhead (fading), once attended a Tom Baker (a former Dr. Who) lecture, got lost and grabbed the nearest bloke in order to ask him where the Tom Baker lecture was. Yes, it was … um … Tom Baker. He was very sweet about it, if rather surprised at my enthusiasm. Loves the theatre but can’t act for toffee. Will do anything for chocolate.
2) Tell us something about you that might come as a surprise!
I know all the words to the musical Calamity Jane, and if my husband hears “Once I had a Secret Love” one more time, he threatens to take me back to the Wife Shop and demand a refund.
3) What do you like most about the LGBTQ genre?
The fact that it gives that man in my head a chance to have his say.
4) What are you most looking forward to about UK Meet?
Being with people who don’t look at me as if I’m something of an embarrassment when they find out how much I love reading and writing gay fiction.
5) If you had one wish which would come true at UK Meet, what would that be?
That I had a car large enough for all the books I will want to buy there.

No worries. They look weird at me too when I tell them some of my favorite books are homo-erotica 😉
Glad to know I’m not the only one, Larissa – safety in numbers!! 🙂
