Becky Black is one of those few UK Meet stalwarts who’s been to every year so far, so I’m sure all the returning delegates will remember her: she’s the one from Newcastle with the utterly dry sense of humour! This year she’s returning as one of our Spotlight Authors, and will be speaking on several panels. Now to hand it over to Becky, in her own words:
I’ve spent the last ten nine years writing to make up for twenty years of not writing, even though I always knew that’s what I wanted to do. And I’ve spent the last two and a half living the dream of being a published author. If one day I can get to be a full time writer that will be heaven on Earth!
2) Tell us something about you that might come as a surprise!
I can only type about 25 words a minute at my very fastest.
3) What do you like most about the LGBTQ genre?
I love that it’s still quite a small close knit genre, the writers mostly supportive of each other in my experience. I love that I get to write the kind of stories I like to read.
4) What are you most looking forward to about UK Meet?
I’m most looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and making new ones.
5)f you had one wish which would come true at UK Meet, what would that be?
To go into full on “genie in the magic lamp” wishes territory, that would be to have the characters from my own and other books I love somehow come to life and show up. Do a few panels, maybe wait the tables. Imagine having Vic Bayne spilling something on you! Imagine cornering Adrien English and trying to persuade him to let you do a signing at Cloak and Dagger Books! Imagine Orlando Coppersmith looking austerely at you for taking his chair!
