Meet the delegates: Piper Vaughn

Today, it’s my pleasure to welcome UK Meet newbie Piper Vaughn to the blog. Piper is another Spotlight Author who’s joining us from across the pond. Let’s hope we can show her some of the best of what Britain has to offer during the Meet. Milky tea and scones, anyone? 😉

Piper Vaughn1) Tell us about yourself in 100 words or fewer.

Wife, mother, flirt, music fan, romance novel junkie, tattoo and piercing lover, hailing from the suburbs of Chicago, IL, USA.

2) Tell us something about you that might come as a surprise!

I’m obsessed with typewriters and collect them. My oldest is 75, made in 1938. One day I hope to own a Hansen writing ball:

3) What do you like most about the LGBTQ genre?

I’m part of the LGBTQ community myself and enjoy seeing it represented in the romance genre (and in books in general). It often feels like we’re the underdogs. I think every LGBTQ book that comes out is one more step in the right direction. As for why I enjoy and write m/m romance in specific, I really just like the dynamic between two men and how it differs from a man and a woman or two women. But at the end of the day, romance is and always will be my favorite genre, and I like reading about people falling in love. All kinds of people.

4) What are you most looking forward to about UK Meet?

Meeting both my fellow authors and readers alike. Not to mention that it’s part of a broader trip I’m making to Europe and the UK this summer. I’ve never been overseas before, so I’m really excited. The UK Meet is the cherry on top of a very delicious sundae. 🙂

5) If you had one wish which would come true at UK Meet, what would that be?

That I make new friends and more connections and that my shyness doesn’t flare up and keep me from being as outgoing as I might be otherwise. Sometimes it’s harder to control the urge to hide away than others.

All UK Meet 2013 delegates are cordially invited to send in their answers to the above questions, along with links to any social networks/blogs/websites they want to include, and a completely optional mugshot/avatar. If you’d like to take part, send them to Thanks!

Hi Piper, and it’s nice to read a bit about you.
Don’t worry about the shyness – we Brits aren’t too in-your-face as a rule. I for one understand the shyness thing, and I’m sure many do. You’ll be fine 🙂
