Today I’d like to introduce a man who attended the UK Meet last year as a total newbie, but who now has his feet so comfortably under the table he’s one of the organising team! In your own words, then, Liam…
I do marketing as a profession. I was born in Hampshire and love going back there to see family and friends. I live with The Boyfriend and two cats, in Essex/East London. I love a good DVD boxset session: Six Feet Under, Brothers and Sisters, Nighty Night, Ab Fab. A perfect holiday is escaping into 4 books, in dappled shade, near a pool, with endless tea, The Boyfriend, and home-made cake nearby. I’m a proper car geek and have a blue Mazda MX5 (or, hairdressers car) and I love every short back & sides, highlighted and permed inch of it.
2) Tell us something about you that might come as a surprise!
I met Kim Woodburn from How Clean Is Your House: she signed some feathery gloves and my copy of her book while she visited where I worked. As I asked for an autograph and photo, the chief exec said, ‘You have no shame do you, Liam?’ To which I nodded and said, ‘None.’
3) What do you like most about the LGBTQ genre?
I’ve been surprised at how friendly and helpful everyone is. So many people have helped me so much since discovering this world, and writing my first novel.
4) What are you most looking forward to about UK Meet?
Meeting people I saw last year and getting to know people I’ve only met online. I’m also looking forward to going shopping and site seeing in Manchester – I love a bit of a sniff around the shops.
5) If you had one wish which would come true at UK Meet, what would that be?
That Ben Foden joined us, and repeated his Attitude magazine shoot, with background music courtesy of his Mrs and the rest of The Saturdays… *coughs* seriously, what would make my day would be to hear delegates say how much they enjoyed the Meet, as we’ve tried really hard to top last year’s in Brighton – and I thought that was totes amazeballs 😉
