Today I’d like to welcome D.T. Dragon to the blog, an new author who’s first book came out earlier this year. It’s D.T.’s first time at the UK Meet–look for the person in the long coat!
A trained environmental scientist who lives beneath castle ruins in a small town called Dudley in middle England. Most likely to be found at a sewing machine, behind a camera or at the beck and call of cats. I dress up like aliens from TV aka the Doctor. I have a thing for long coats. Money no object, I would spent my days travelling the world and my nights under a mass of purring cats.
2) Tell us something about you that might come as a surprise!
I had a thousand photos taken of me in one year for someone’s photography degree, dressed up like aliens from TV.
3) What do you like most about the LGBTQ genre?
An opportunity to tell stories that are not defined by hetero-normative restrictions. Growing up, I was suitably bored by the mainstream hetero-romance, and the gay romance section was half a shelf in my local library. Now my muse has taken an interest in writing gay fiction, I am hoping it can be pushed into writing about aromantic and/or asexual characters, as there still is nothing in my local library about this. I suppose we are changing the world by celebrating natural diversity. Love is love.
4) What are you most looking forward to about UK Meet?
Meeting friends old and new, and wondering what my muse has gotten me into now!
5) If you had one wish which would come true at UK Meet, what would that be?
For everyone to leave with a new plot bunny, or to have freed a stuck muse. My muse is amazing at generating ideas and bridging seemingly unrelated items, but it doesn’t commit much to text through me. Hopefully my muse will help other people – come and see me in the 1-2-1 if you’re stuck!
