Today it’s the turn of another visitor from over the pond to introduce herself: Spotlight Author and UK Meet first-timer, Belinda McBride. Belinda says she’s frightened by fire season in Northern California, so our typically damp English summer will no doubt be incredibly reassuring to her 😉 And even if by some miracle we do get a heatwave, Manchester is full of canals so we’ll be surrounded by water anyway!
Author of multi-genre romance. I breed and show Siberian Huskies and love to collect shiny things like gemstones, though I rarely wear jewelry. My training is in history and cultural anthropology. Though I quit my day job to take care of ailing family members, I still take the occasional free-lance research assignment.
I like tough men with battered faces, androgyny and an uninhibited smile. My home is in Northern California, nestled between Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen, with the Trinity Alps at our back. The one thing that really frightens me is fire season.
2) Tell us something about you that might come as a surprise!
I don’t watch TV. I haven’t seen an episode of Dr. Who since the late ’70s.
3) What do you like most about the LGBTQ genre?
I like writing in the LGBTQ genre because I can drop all gender expectations when I write. I can just let any character blossom, regardless of their sexual or gender identity.
4) What are you most looking forward to about UK Meet?
Seeing some old friends and meeting people I’ve only talked to online.
5) If you had one wish which would come true at UK Meet, what would that be?
That I can spend time and hang with every single person in attendance!
